Abstract
Discusses the various ways by which toxic substances enter the body (inhalation, skin contact, inadvertent ingestion) and travel to the sites of major toxic action, the areas where they are stored and metabolized, and the use of antidotes (when possible) for detoxification. Organic compounds and solvents are noted as being quite harmful. Aspiration of organic solvent into the lungs may result in severe chemical pneumonitis, pulmonary edema, or even death. -- AATA
