The following aspects are discussed: types of binder (unsaturated polyester or unsaturated acrylic polymer); hardening by UV or IR radiation; benzoin ethers and aromatic ketones as photoinitiators; effects of UV radiation of different wavelength; types of UV radiation sources; curing of pigmented films; toxicology of the monomeric and polymeric resin components; and method of application on uncoated or veneered chipboard or hardboard.
