Deals with strontium/calcium and zinc/calcium ratios as indicators of weaning in a group of pre-Columbian children whose ages varied from newborn to five years old. The results were compared with that of an adult population. Calcium, phosphorus, aluminum, strontium, and zinc were determined in skeletal material using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Results indicate a tentative weaning age between 24 and 36 months of age.
