Natural fibers and rayon are damaged by strong acids and the weakened fibers may be dissolved during drycleaning. Thin areas appear in blended fabrics because synthetic fibers are resistant to acid. The color in the damaged area appears lighter when both fibers are the same color and, when the fibers are different colors, the areas appear to be a different color from the undamaged fabric. This type of damage is irreparable. -- AATA
