A comprehensive survey, produced by Staubforschungsinstitut des Hauptverbandes der gewerblichen Berufsgenossenschaften, e.V., Bonn, of the risks arising from foundry materials and of means to reduce them, is presented. Siliceous dust is the major danger and extensive data relating to the incidence of silicosis are given. Danger from toxic and corrosive vapours arising from the decomposition of binders as well as explosion dangers and risks from radiation from non-destructive testing and similar equipment are dealt with.
