Abstract
This article has described some of the problems that result from careless work habits or improper protection. The reader is encouraged to consult the reading list that follows for further information and to use the list of suppliers as a guide to some of the companies that manufacture and sell health and safety equipment and products. But perhaps most important is the need to keep abrest of current issues in health and safety. The variety of toxic materials used in museums pose so many serious hazards to employees, visitors and their families that the need for a safe environment and protection should not be ignored or minimized.
