Abstract
At a congress on labor protection and occupational medicine, November 1977 in Dusseldorf, the benefit of replacing trichloroethylene by methylcholoroform (1, 1, 1-trichloroethane) was questioned. Stabilizers and corrosion inhibitors added to methylchloroform are considerably more harmful than additives used in trichloroethylene. The Dutch Veiligheidsinstituut has carried out a survey among suppliers of methylchloroform regarding types and quantities of additives. The conclusion from the varying answers is that methylchloroform is only com paratively a safe solvent. -- AATA
