A prototype, low intensity x-ray imaging system is described and used in small-format applications (areas of the order of several square centimeters). This unique lightweight system is entirely self-contained, battery powered and uses a radioactive iodine source for primary x-rays. Performance characteristics and results are presented using radiation doses to the objects of about 0.3 mR. -- AATA
