Abstract
This article considers a 13th-century Syrian ceramic dish, where special light is thrown on a black color pigment used as an under-glaze-decoration, and on the glaze in question. The results are compared concurrently with a manuscript from the Middle Ages describing ceramic materials used at a contemporary Persian potter's workshop. The examination ends up with a reconstruction of the dish. -- AATA
