The authors of this review will describe the role of isotope mass spectrometry in measuring atomic masses and isotope abundances with high accuracy and precision, to enable atomic weights and fundamental constants to be determined. The authors' intention is to demonstrate that high-precision, high-accuracy isotope mass spectrometry is a powerful analytical technique that will continue to make major contributions in many branches of science.
