Abstract
Chemical, mineralogical, physical, and structural analyses have been performed on some terracottas (decoration elements) taken from the monument. The results allow us to characterize all the examined materials and to find out the causes of decay (crystallization of soluble salts is the main one). It has been shown that the amount and the kind of decay are due to the original objects' properties. -- AATA
