Abstract
There was no secondary-level training for book conservators in Hungary until 1981. Library and archival conservators had different backgrounds, so that no unified entrance qualifications could be established for the courses that were eventually developed in 1981-82. The author describes the curricula in book and paper conservation at the Secondary School for Arts and Crafts (Budapest). There is also some training in paper restoration at the academy of fine arts.
