Abstract
The author maintains that training of sculpture restorers should be specialised from the beginning. The student should not treat actual works of art during the first year. A model programme for a four-year course is outlined; the fifth year should be spent in an apprenticeship at a reputable workshop. After this training, the student should be capable of treating polychrome sculptures.
