Ethiopian manuscripts of value were written on goat parchment or vellum. An example, still in its original binding of 1636, is in the India Office Library, London. Entitled Faith of the Fathers , it is written in black and red on prepared vellum. This article is an expansion of that in Conservation News (July, 1985), but with considerably more illustrations of the book structure.
