Abstract
The polysaccharid chains form systems in the plant cell wall, united in ascending orders. After removing the structure covering lignin, cellulose systems in shape of lamellae and fibrillae become visible in the lignified cell wall.Polysaccharides isolated from wood were divided into cellulose and various polyose fractions; here some polyoses could be enriched with various structures. It was possible to observe electronmicroscopically in cellulose various manifestations of decomposition, of recrystallization and reprecipitation, caused by various treatments.The observations on structure and reaction of the polysaccharides are set into relation to existing models of their supermolecular structure.
