The curator of Byzantine, medieval, and modern art of the Vatican Museums is responsible for the control over restoration of everything in his department. The curator, Dr. Fabrizio Mancinelli, explains archaeological restoration as leaving missing what is missing. Another type of restoration is integral restoration. Integral restoration is the replacing of a missing area so that it is detectable. The restoration of two Poussin paintings is outlined.
