The first phase of a complete restoration of the Sistine Chapel is completed revealing a splendor not seen for three centuries. Some of the restoration techniques are given. The restoration procedures are those of solidification, cleaning and the prevention of future damage. The least possible retouching is carried out. The restored areas have revealed much about Michelangelo's techniques and colors. -- AATA
