Various instrumental and chemical techniques are presented for the identification and determination of the binder, solvent, and pigment components of paint samples. Infrared spectroscopy, emission and x-ray spectroscopy, sodium fusion and organic functional group analyses are discussed. A schematic procedure for analysis is included. -- AATA
