Abstract
Little is known of the various textile treasures from the seven centuries which are exhibited in the Swiss National Museum in Zurich. The director of the textile and costume division gives an outline of the knitted and woven fabrics, embroideries, prints and of various types of plait work. Ecclesiastical garments and secular apparel exhibited are also described as well as the textile studio, which plays an important part in the restoration and preservation of all these exhibits. Without conservation work a public exhibition of the objects would not be possible. -- AATA
