Abstract
The sandwich method (in which metal coupons are sandwiched between wafers of treated wood) was used to study corrosion of different metals by wood treated with a range of inorganic, organic and organo-metallic preservatives under water saturation and 90% RH conditions. Generally corrosion was more severe under saturation conditions. Carbon and galvanized steel exhibited the greatest amount of corrosion, while aluminum, copper, and brass were relatively inert. ACA (ammoniacal Cu-As) was the most corrosive preservative and PCP (P9 type A) was the least. -- AATA
