Abstract
Since 1960 there are positive experiences with the consolidation of waterlogged wood with melamine-formaldehyde products. The only commercial product actually available is Lyofix DML from Ciba-Geigy, Switzerland. A process to produce this product is described, since Lyofix is not always available. A final coating with an acrylic resin is proposed.
