Abstract
Due to costs, the Santo Antonio de Tanna -- sunk beneath a reef off the coast of Fort Jesus, Mombasa -- has been recorded and studied in situ. After excavation and removal of thousands of artifacts, the site was backfilled until such time that it is economically feasible to raise the wreck. Conservation training was provided for the museum staff at Fort Jesus to treat the artifacts, and funds were used to send a Kenyan student to attend a conservation course in London.
