Abstract
The Epson HX-20 portable microcomputer has been used during both the field and cataloging phases of the Brantley Archaeological Project, a survey and testing program in southeastern New Mexico, funded by the Bureau of Reclamation. The advantages and disadvantages of using this portable computer for the direct recording of archaeological field data and the subsequent cataloging of the recovered material are presented. Criteria for selecting and evaluating portable field computers are also included. -- AATA
