In Denmark cross-sections have for several years been used in order to examine the paint in historical rooms. A special instrument for removing the cross-sections has now been developed, These are transferred to a plastic container, which later serves as a mold of the casting. A practical example from the examination of buildings shows how one by means of crosssections can prove that the doors in an old house have been exchanged; nowadays they are placed between rooms other than the original ones.
