The article describes the Anthony Island totems, the last major stand of totem poles anywhere still in their original location, which has been proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The history of the site, in the Queen Charlotte Islands, British Columbia, and the problems facing its protection and preservation, are outlined. -- AATA
