Abstract
Discussion of the chemical composition of Showgard film (a commercial material for mount-ing postage stamps) indicates the material is polystyrene with a small concentration of an ABS polymer. The author favors the mounts but warns that if a chlorinated solvent is used for watennark detection on a stamp the user should be sure the stamps are free of all vapors or else they may become permanently bonded to the plastic mount.
