Describes the electrolytic reduction method used for the conservation of archaeological lead artifacts at the veliko turnovo history museum conservation laboratory: at very low current density, the artifact (as the cathode) is presented between two metal disks (as anodes) until hydrogen appears, reducing the lead from the corroded part and bringing on a thin layer of lead on the metal nucleus. This method preserves valuable inscriptions and reliefs on the lead surfaces. Photograph.
