Arashi shibori is a traditional Japanese technique in which fine, overall patterns on fabric are created by wrapping a long, narrow cloth diagonally around a pole, winding a thread around it at measured intervals, compressing the cloth into tight, tiny folds, and dyeing it. Techniques are described with emphasis on achieving a textured effect. Arashi shibori was historically used in men's yukata and jiban.
