The vibrations to which a small art object was exposed when it was transported by hand in a special case were measured, during the transfer from museum to airport, in flight, and again from airport to museum. It was found that not only climatic conditions have an impact but also the danger due to vibrations must be taken into consideration when an art object is transported. Special precautions, such as selecting smooth roads, special vehicles, certain positions within the airplane, can considerably reduce the danger caused by vibrations.
