During the last 25 years numerous osteologic and odontologic traces of the Pleistocene faunal community were discovered during systematic and complex speleological, geological and palaeontological investigations carried out in the underground Istrian karst. Exact determination of the faunal remains and the determination of the palaeontological basis of that period make it possible to reconstruct the climate conditions of Istria. Special attention is given to caves that were inhabited by bears and hyenas. -- AATA
