Abstract
The project focused on analyzing the reactions of various transparent papers to conservation techniques. The purpose of this paper is to give a historical outline for different types of papers, combined with a detailed investigation of one collection of transparentized papers. The first appendix, Manufacture of Transparent Papers, outlines the methods and materials used in two centuries of transparent paper manufacture. The second appendix, Conservation of Transparent Papers, is a summary compilation of the conservation research done on transparent papers in the last decade.
