Archaeological findings in the territory of Spinut and nearby district of Poljud and Lora provide evidence of the continuity of human settlement during the prehistoric and the classical Roman period. Documents indicate the presence of a church during the 11th, 14th, 17th and 18th centuries. This study reviews the different buildings that were constructed on the location of the current church, covering the period from the early Classical Period to the 11th or 12th century. Special attention is devoted to the evidence indicating that an early Christian church existed on this site during the 5th or 6th century. -- AATA
