A report of excavations carried out at Lussa Wood 1, a Mesolithic occupation site on Jura. Radiocarbon dates for stone rings (probably cooking places) are the earliest dates yet obtained for a Scottish structure. The site is discussed against the climatic and geochronological back-ground of the Southern Hebrides, and the archaeological evidence is placed in the wider context of the European coastal Mesolithic. The stone artifacts found are drawn and described in detail. -- AATA
