Abstract
The difficulties of radiography of a large object in a public place (the Bell was still housed in Independence Hall) and the methods and materials used are given in detail. Gamma radiography with various portable isotopic sources produced sectional views for crack detection, and also an elevation view 52 inches wide by 7 feet high where intensification was achieved by stacking the film 14 sheets deep. Chronology of the bell is included. -- AATA
