This article states and stresses the necessity to expand the purely technical approach to the conservation of adobe architectural monuments with a more refined methodology. It suggests an approach that encompasses detailed analytical studies of the monuments; the analysis should include a study of the environment, of the written documents relative to the construction methods and materials used, keeping close attention to the technology and typology of the times of construction. A detailed diagnosis should be drawn from these observations, a careful therapy worked out, and subsequent control maintained.
