The treatment of new and aged papers with liquid ammonia and other non-destructive swelling agents increased their aging resistance and improved the folding endurance. The treatment of paper with 25-32% sodium hydroxide solutions at room temperature for only a few minutes had the same favorable effects. -- AATA
