A Coptic tapestry fragment in 6th-century style and typical technique was found to have Tussah silk used for warp, for brocading weft and for two tabby borders. The second example was discovered with seven other textiles at the Cathedral of Le Puy. This second example is non-woven: it consists of two layers of Tussah fibers adhered with an unknown adhesive. Morphology and Shirlastain stain were observed under light microscopy; an electron microscope was also utilized in the study. -- AATA
