A synopsis of the findings of D. Davanzo Poli's book, $2<i> mestieri della moda a Venezia nei sec. 12-17$$, Documenti, Parti I, Venezia, 1984, is given. The statutory widths of textiles are found. Most interesting, statutes on the color of selvage stripes according to the dyestuffs employed were discovered (black and yellow for some lac dyed silks at the end of the 15th century; blue and fauve for brazilwood dyed ones).
