Abstract
A brief review of the characteristics of kekabu (<i>Bombax</i> spp. ) with reference to Peninsular Malaysia where the principal species are <i>B. ceiba (B. malabaricum)</i> and <i>B. valetonii</i>. The wood (air-dry density 415-545 kg/m<sup>3</sup>) is non-durable but very easily treated with creosote. Data are given for the working, seasoning, and strength properties of <i>B. valetonii</i>. -- AATA
