Abstract
The applications of water and polyethylene glycol are described; the pontoon superstructure in which the <i>Wasa</i> is housed had not been designed with regard to its ability to maintain a constant climate. The drying of the <i>Wasa</i> has been documented since the salvage; core samples have been taken from different parts of the hull at given time intervals, and a water-ratio versus time graph records the drying process at the different layers. The temperature and relative humidity have appeared to be significant in influencing the drying process; the permanent museum which will house the <i>Wasa* 1 will be climatized to the specific needs of the preserved wood.
