Concern in treating dyebath effluent has prompted this article. There are two problems: the removal of chemical agents and the removal of the dyes themselves. Means to remove acid, vat, disperse, direct, and sulfur dyes are explored. Discussed are: ozonation, calcium chloride treatment, electrolysis, sedimentation, and carbon filtration. The selection of one or more of these methods is a function of the dye class. -- AATA
