Abstract
A method of the conservation of waterlogged archaeological wood with the utilization of phenol alcohols is described. This method was worked out in the Byelorussian Technological Institute laboratory and was used in the conservation of more than 6,000 medieval wooden artifacts from excavations in Novgorod. Some data on the application of this method for conserving medieval and neolithic wood in the State Hermitage restoration laboratory are provided.
