Scaled-rectified photography uses simple optical principles to provide an image of building elevations with an accuracy equal to measurements taken by hand. The article gives elevation information photographically. There is a brief discussion of the two basic approaches when considering photographic recording to scale: the architectural application of terrestrial photography by architects is encouraged, but its limitations are acknowledged. The author focuses on the use of the mirror method for on-site rectification. He has developed a technique for keeping the plane of the mirror parallel with the plane of the building, and providing internal alignment of the camera to insure that the film plane is normal to the lens axis. Two case studies are presented: Fort Lawson, Seattle Washington (1890s military complex which is part of a housing-rehabilitation project) and The Temple of Justice Building, Olympia, Washington (1919 Classical Revival public building). -- AATA
