Abstract
Twenty-eight pieces of pottery excavated in Fustat were analyzed for 20 elements and Si 02 was determined by difference to 100%. The sherds divided into a clay-bodied or faience-bodied material. Reference samples are compared for each type. For the 20 elements determined, the mean value of the abundance and the root-mean square deviation from this value are determined and a group of pottery of known provenience for which the average value of the deviation is 10% or less is considered a suitable reference group. -- AATA
