Abstract
The creative act in itself may depend on art theory, including general color theory, guiding the creative process. A basic principle was and is at work: the logical use of each color to enhance its properties and obviate its defects. Topics discussed include the relationships of materials, techniques, and expression; these include the constitutents of the paint layer, the effect of mixing pigments, and studies of the binding medium, keeping in mind that the pigment, i.e. The color, does not exist in isolation.
