Fieux's article discusses the use of silicone polymers as lining adhesives and varnish coatings for paintings. He outlines the advantages silicone polymers seem to have over many of the traditional and often flawed lining adhesives. Fabri-Sil is a proprietary lining material developed by the author. It is comprised of a Teflon coated glass fiber fabric which is then coated on one side with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive. The adhesive is protected by a release paper making it possible to store the fabric until use. Lining can be accomplished with minimal surface pressure and no heat. The material is peel-reversible after the back has been sprayed with naphtha. Vami-Sil is a silicone varnish coating also developed by the author. It is claimed to be neither thermosetting, thermoplastic nor cross-linking. It is said to be clear, transparent, elastic, removable, protective, and neither yellowing or blooming.
