Abstract
Nepal is just beginning to develop a policy for the conservation of cultural property and faces many problems in the conservation of wooden objects, many of which are inside the Buddhist monasteries. They suffer breakage and damage due to fungi, termites and other insects. The wooden parts of the temples suffer similar damage. Reference is made to a scientific laboratory which three sections deal with: physical properties for wooden objects; treatments including sterilization and fumigation and mechanical and chemical cleaning; research and publication work.
