Abstract
The tropical climate is particularly destructive to wooden structures. In order to conserve a wooden structure, it is necessary to know what woods are used, the environmental conditions, and the causes of the wood's deterioration. Two conservation projects are discussed in detail: the restoration of the Landak Princely Palace and Mosque at Ngabang, Kalimantan; and the Demak Great Mosque.
