In 1845, the factory of Edmé Samson et Cie began providing replacement pieces for dinner service and other fine wares. A catalog from the period advertised that replicas of items from 13 different potteries could be obtained. For the collector this has posed problems. An easy method of changing or altering a ceramic mark is described. The best work coming from this factory was the Worcester and Battersea enamels; the weakest works were Meissen copies, Kaendler figurines, and Chelsea figures.
