A x-radiographic study was conducted of a wooden japanese sculpture in the krannert art museum (usa). The figure, attributed to the fujiwara period, was of interest because of its method of construction. The investigation revealed a multiple woodblock technique of construction, for which no written records exist. Photographs, diagram, references.
